Royal Aesthetic Center About Us

For those looking to improve the look of scars, boost collagen, or encourage hair growth, microneedling can offer a minimally invasive solution.

The microneedling procedure dates back to the ’90s but has gained increasing popularity recently due to technological advancements making the treatment safer and more effective.

Microneedling Benefits

Microneedling is more affordable than other treatments; having a laser treatment can cost almost four times as much. In addition, microneedling may be more effective for persons with darker complexions than laser treatments since it does not require heat, which can affect the pigmentation of the skin.

Microneedling may aid in the treatment of:

Alopecia
Stretch marks
Hyperpigmentation
Pores
Wrinkles
Skin elasticity
Acne
Sun damage

What Is Microneedling

A microneedling procedure punctures the skin using sterile needles. The micro-wounds encourage your body to produce more collagen and elastin, which help to repair your skin and make you appear younger. It may also be referred to as collagen induction therapy (CIT).

The healing process following microneedling, as reported by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), has been shown to lessen the visibility of scars and dark spots and improve skin elasticity.

In addition, although further research is required, microneedling may stimulate hair growth in alopecia patients.

Suppose you are otherwise healthy and have tried and failed to treat your skin problems using home remedies or other dermatological procedures like chemical peels. In that case, you may be a good candidate for this procedure.

How It Works

Microneedling works by micro-puncturing your skin, thus encouraging it to make more collagen. The skin is slightly injured by the pinpricks, and in response, it produces new collagen-rich tissue.

This newly produced skin tissue is expected to be even in tone and texture. It’s common for your skin to gradually or suddenly lose collagen with age or injury. By encouraging the newly punctured skin to make new tissue, additional collagen may help make the skin firmer.

Microneedling may also be combined with radio frequency (RF), topical serums, and platelet-rich plasma. If you need to figure out what the next step is or how much it will cost, a dermatologist can help.

What Are The Possible Side Effects

As with any cosmetic procedure, microneedling comes with it certain risks. Shortly after the treatment, slight skin irritation is the most common side effect. You may also have a few days of redness.

Call your doctor if you have any of the following severe side effects:

  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Peeling
  • Infection

What To Expect After The Treatment

Compared to plastic surgery, microneedling is much less invasive and has a shorter recovery time, and most people do not require much downtime. As the skin’s normal response to the minor “injuries” caused by the needles, you may experience skin irritation and inflammation within the first week after the procedure.

As a result of inflammation and relatively superficial swelling, it temporarily helps the skin appear more radiant and plump. However, some clients may only see significant effects after a few sessions of microneedling because the skin heals itself through the process.

However, microneedling also promises long-term improvement. Multiple microneedling sessions, separated by at least one month, can result in an increase in both collagen and skin elasticity.

Should You Get One?

Microneedling can help improve your skin’s appearance and texture and is generally safe for everyone. It can reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars, wrinkles, and other skin problems. Unlike various skin procedures involving heat, light, or lasers, it does not pose a risk of skin discoloration. However, there are still risks of bruising, bleeding, peeling, and infection related to the procedure.
